About us

Melbury Vale Vineyard was planted in 2006 by the Parker/Pestell family and friends. Clare Pestell wine-maker and distiller, works this very sustainable winery, set into the hillside so that wines can be stored in the best conditions. In 2013, our first wines were produced here, ‘Virtue’ and ‘Elegance’. This distinctive building clad in local Melbury Greenstone and sustainably sourced timber has become a local landmark building with its wild flower meadow roof and rainwater harvesting.

We grow four varieties, Pinot Noir, Solaris, Rondo and Seyval Blanc; producing red, white and rosé still wines as well as sparkling wines. In addition to the Melbury vineyard, we also work with our partner vineyards across Dorset, with more local vineyards being planted every year.

Visit us

The vineyard and winery are open to visitors for tastings and sales on Fridays and Saturdays from 10am to 4pm, pre-booked tours are at 10.30 am on Saturdays throughout the Spring and Summer, or by pre-arranged appointment. We welcome pre-booked groups on any available day (minimum 12, maximum 20) for a guided tour with tastings of our range of products. Delicious locally produced food can also be arranged.

Events

We do host events at the winery including exhibitions, special interest group and business association meetings, and car club gatherings. The winery is also the perfect location to hold your birthday or anniversary celebration. Visit our website or contact us if you would like to organise your own group event.

How to find us

Melbury Vale Vineyard is situated just off the A350 (M4 to Poole) road, 1 mile (1.6km) south of Shaftesbury (Foots Hill, Cann SP7 0BW). Parking is available at the Winery. Please advise if you are travelling in a larger vehicle so that we can make arrangements.

Nearest railway station is Gillingham (Dorset), 6 miles.
