Jo Downs Handmade Glass

One of the world's most prominent fused glass artists, British designer Jo Downs’ handcrafted work is inspired by the coastal setting of Cornwall where she lives and works.

Although Jo set up her first glass making workshop in 1996 in Muswell Hill, her love of Cornwall grew from many holidays spent with her gran in Tintagel. The landscape and atmosphere of Cornwall has a deep influence over her work.

Today Jo is able to spend her time designing in her studio, and working with the small team on the workshop floor, creating commissioned pieces and testing out new designs. 

“I feel extremely lucky to have found success as a designer and maker, and to be working daily with my passion for fused glass. Glass is such a beautiful, awe-inspiring medium, and it really seems to capture the imagination.” Jo’s range of beautiful glassware includes hangings, bowls and mirrors alongside statement interior pieces such as wall panels and art frames, all are available from her 5 Galleries in Cornwall and Sunningdale in Berkshire.
