Century Picturedrome Cinema
Clacton-on-Sea
The Century Cinema opened on 25th July 1936 and was designed by local Clacton architect GHB Gould and had seating for 1,743 (1,428 in the stalls and 486 in the circle).
Eighty-Five Years Later and it has gone through many changes, with refurbishments and redesigns, but it still offers the people of Clacton-on-Sea and the surrounding area quality entertainment and unbeatable value.
Now a twin-screen cinema (the main auditorium is situated in what was the original circle seating area) operating as part of the Picturedrome Cinemas group, with digital projection and 7.1 sound, the Century’s gone from strength to strength while also supporting local good causes and championing independent film.
