Tetbury Police Museum

Cirencester
Telling our unique and fascinating story

The Tetbury Police Museum is situated in the original historic Victorian Police Station, Gaol and Magistrates Court. This significant building was one of 16 Police Stations and Magistrates Courts built in Gloucestershire between 1858 and 1909.

The Museum is home to a unique and fascinating collection of stories, photographs, objects and memorabilia. The collection brings alive the story of a community over the last 200 years through the eyes of a small group of dedicated people who were in charge of maintaining law and order in the town and surrounding countryside. This wonderful collection takes us on a journey of change, growth and development from the early 1800’s, a journey that is still continuing today.

Discover our fascinating case files of investigations and arrests. Explore the collections from the earliest call sign ‘a rattle and a lantern’ to our modern ‘comms’. Learn what was in store when you spent a night in the cells and came up before the Magistrates the next day!
